2357...MPs Spending

Not judging or anything but I find it ironic that the Parliamentary snapshot in today's Ottawa Citizen indicates that out of the ten biggest spenders on the Hill, six are from the Conservatives. The other four are Dips.

And among the lowest spenders? Six are from The Big Red Machine.

Things that make me go "Hmmmmmmm."

  1. That's not the point. The point is that their expenses need to be audited. At this point, the Conservatives, Liberals & NDP are all stonewalling.

Not one of them deserves any support on this issue. Don't fall into the trap of supporting one party in this because you prefer their policies.

  2. I pay my taxes and make full disclosure to the CRA, always aware that I could be audited at any time.

What I don't understand is why our politicians enjoy a status that is different from any other Canadian.

They're allowed to make ongoing expense claims against the public treasury like they're a major international corporation.

Think about it: as an individual, I don't get to deduct my 'boofer' (as Stephen Harper does) or claim expensive jets to fly across the country 50 times to promote a crippled 'action' plan (again, per Stephen Harper). I also don't get to deduct the 100s of other items and activities that they do.

As a taxpayer, I think my deductions are limited to child care, my RRSP and a few other minor allowances.

This is why the public is ticked off.

We can justify a lot of the expense in terms of public relations, travel or other activities, but I'm starting to lose my patience with what I feel is the most corrupt government on this planet.

THEY MUST BOW TO THE DEMANDS OF THE AG AND ALLOW AN AUDIT. PERIOD.
