2520...Fake Lake Okay With Canuckistanians

Newspapers all across Our Home And Native Land report the weirdish news that the fake lake and $1 billion price-tag are not dampening Canadians' understanding of hosting the G8 and G20 summits.

A Canadian Press Harris-Decima
survey finds three-quarters of respondents believe the G8 and G20 summits are important and worth the expense of hosting. Some 76 per cent of respondents said the weekend summits of world leaders were either very or somewhat important.

The survey also found 68 per cent of respondents favoured Canada hosting the summits. The $1 billion plus price-tag for the summits includes over $900-million for security in Toronto and Huntsville.

Er, perhaps the survey was over populated by coppers?

In all seriousness, the Stephen Harpers f*ck up again and they don't get any flak; in fact they may even get a bump.

Oi and vey.

    Big Grain of Salt time. Looks like they're really cherry-picking & spinning the results, and it appears they were soft-ball q's to begin with. Buried in one new account of the poll is this less flattering stat:

    "Of those polled who expressed awareness of the summits, 61 per cent said they were "too expensive to be worth it," while 32 per cent said the summits, costs were justified."

    Between this, and the press ignoring the fact that the PMO issued untendered contracts in the millions, clearly Harper's press is protecting him yet again.

  2. I wonder how many of the people surveyed actually understand what is going to happen at this "photo-op"?

    Climate Change = Fail
    Maternal Health = Fail
    Economy = Fail
    Bank Bailouts = Fail (Harper bailed out the banks in 2008)

    So what are these summits going to accomplish? I suggest that other than creating havoc in downtown TO (in the case of the G20), providing new food for the mosquitos (G8), absolutely nothing.

  4. The presumption that you seem to be making is that if the Libs had been in power the Toronto summit would have been cheaper, cleaner, better. This is an error, at least as far as ordinary Canadians are concerned.

    As long as the Libs keep looking for a quick way back to power they will remain a weak opposition party.
