I didn't quite understand what was going on when I was watching the game on RDS.
My New York City friend Len Berman cleared it up: "Montreal Canadiens fans sarcastically sing Bonne Fête (French for Happy Birthday) as Scott Gomez, the team's highest paid player, 'celebrates' a full year without scoring a goal."
Getting paid for not doing what you are paid to do. Wow, Mr. Gomez could be a Canadian Senator.
