It was on this very day in 1970 that Paul McCartney announced that his musical ensemble, The Beatles, were packing it in.
We tend to think they were around forever as a working unit but in fact they were only in the public eye in North America from '64 and in Merry Ole from '62.
In that brief time they did make a bit of an impact. They were no Backstreet Boys or New Kids On The Block but they did resonate.
